Recent conditions data for active automated groundwater level (recorder) wells. An automatic groundwater level recorder well, or recorder well, refers to a water well, preferably unused, but not always the case, installed with water level recording equipment (a recorder) and a datalogger.

Caveats and Usage

As a convenience to the public, this dataset also includes well data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA). All data displayed for these wells are maintained by USGS and EAA respectively.

Collection Method Description

Water-level data are typically recorded at 60-minute intervals in digital form using a water-level sensor connected to either a data card or an automated electronic recorder or data logger.

Quality Control Level

Comprehensive Review (multiple people)

Quality Assurance Description

Basic QAQC checks are performed by TWDB Recorder Team staff to ensure equipment is set up correctly and obtaining accurate measurements at time of setup and at least once a year. Automatic checks are performed daily to look for gaps in data, no changes in values (flat lines) and large jumps in data. Data Team and Recorder Team staff review the results of those checks daily. Hydrograph verifications are performed when data is uploaded from Water Data for Texas to the Groundwater Database.
