Collection Method Description

Hydrogeological data such as total dissolved solids was collected using a variety of methods. Most were obtained or calculated directly from field measurements, but some historical data was transcribed from administrative records. The Collection Entity and Reliability fields in the Groundwater database provide additional information on how that information was collected for each site.

Quality Control Level

Quality Assurance Description

The data entry application for the Groundwater database has some built-in rules to help prevent data entry errors, but the majority of the quality control is performed through comprehensive review by TWDB staff using visual inspection of the data, SQL queries to perform logic tests on the data and an anion/cation balance check to verify the reliability of the analyses.
