Collection Method Description

Well location information for all newly added wells is collected by TWDB field staff and cooperators such as Groundwater Conservation Districts, universities, and other state and federal agencies, using GPS. Historical well location information may have been collected using a variety of methods including locating from a topo map. The Coord Source field in the groundwater database (GWDB) provides additional information on the accuracy of the well location information and how it was collected.

Quality Assurance Description

Basic QAQC checks are performed by TWDB Data Team staff to ensure site location matches with other geographical information such as county, river basin, groundwater management area, regional water planning area. We also receive feedback from internal and external users regarding misplotted wells. Location checks are also performed on all data received from our cooperators.
